It’s only fitting that the Meansville, Georgia-based psychedelic-rock trio, Acapoco, define their sound as a “powerful backdrop for you summer cookout.” After all, their single is titled “Yard Rock”, their artwork is a photograph of the three blurred in the grass, and their sound mimics the atmospheric nature of a summer night spent chillin’ with friends in the backyard — the familiarity of soft, female vocals atop the utter playfulness of tight guitar work, and intimate repetitive lines like “I can feel it.” It’s got a sense of mystery — before the drums kick in, the track opens with a sound reminiscent of Tool, but by the time the track peaks, it is something else entirely.
