Well, obviously it's an online magazine.

Charli XCX covers “Shake It Off”

Posted on February 10, 2015March 13, 2015 by Vinyl Mag

And then Charli XCX did a punked-up, high-speed version of “Shake It Off,” and all was right with the world.

I wonder if Charli left out the “this sick beat” line because TSwift is currently trying to get the phrase trademarked. No, that’s not a joke. That’s a real thing that’s happening.

Rugged yet enticing, Charli XCX’s latest single, “Gold Coins,” is another slam dunk for the pop diva.

Released today via the London Queen’s YouTube channel, the video confirms that Charli is sticking to this theme of punk rock/pop-ish music on her upcoming album, Sucker.

Charli’s album is due to release Dec. 16 (US) and Jan. 26 (UK). You can pre-order “Sucker” here. In the meantime, check out “Gold Coins” below and tell us what you think!

Watch: Ruby the RabbitFoot: “Misery”

Posted on November 7, 2014November 9, 2014 by Vinyl Mag

Athens, GA artist Ruby the Rabbitfoot has debuted the music video for her  track “Misery” of her new album New as Dew.

In the video, Ruby (Ruby Kendrick) showcases her talent for singing “pop/funk/jungle” and creativity throughout the multiple scenes. Starting with burning Barbie dolls and lined up pineapples with sunglasses, the video is the perfect quirky pop accompaniment to the upbeat track that will make you feel anything but what its title suggests.

Ruby’s beauty is captivating in this video as she croons to us and wears fruit laced in her top knots, resembling a modern Frida Khalo. Along with that, the graphics in her sunglasses are an added bonus. Not to mention, there is a Corgi in the video!

“Misery” is an amazing song complimented by a perfectly artsy, hipster-ish video. You can check it out below, and also check out Ruby the Rabbitfoot’s whole album New as Dew via iTunes or Amazon.

Listen: CHVRCHES: “Dead Air”

Posted on November 5, 2014November 6, 2014 by Vinyl Mag

Electronica group CHVRCHES has released a new single that will be included on the soundtrack for the upcoming, destined-to-be blockbuster “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.”

The song, titled “Dead Air,” is a melodic and peaceful tune that will truly capture the essence of Katniss for the new film. CHVRCHES joins other hit artists including Tove Lo, Tinashe and  Charli XCX on the soundtrack.

The soundtrack for the movie is being curated by Lorde, who also has her own single, “Yellow Flicker Beat,” on the album as well (it’s seriously incredible).

Back to the new CHVRCHES song, however.  The track is available for download on iTunes right now, with the soundtrack available for pre-order. The soundtrack will be released Nov. 17, days before the movie comes out Nov. 21.
