Watch: Diarrhea Planet: “Kids”

Posted on November 5, 2014November 6, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

In preparation for the release of their upcoming album, Aliens in the Outfield, rockers Diarrhea Planet have a little surprise for their fans. Even after releasing the five songs included on the album, the band has decided to bless their fans with a video before Aliens is dropped on Nov. 18 via Infinity Cat Recordings.

The video is for “Kids,” a song off of the Nashville band’s first LP, I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams. It was directed by Paul Morgan and revolves around a man working a typical office day and bored to death. After being chewed out by his boss, the man runs away from all things adult towards absolute freedom, which in this case is a DP mini-concert.

If you haven’t had to the chance to listen to DP’s first album I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, check it out here.  To check out the video, watch below!

Die Antwoord’s new music video is craaazy

Posted on November 5, 2014November 6, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

South African band Die Antwoord has released a new music video that is damn near lunatic.

The music video for DA’s recent single, “Ugly Boy,” seems more like a cameo free-for-all than a song.

The celebs that are dispersed throughout the video are some of the most unexpected cameos that no one but husband and wife duo, Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er, could have combined.  Jack Black, Dita Von Teese, Marilyn Manson, Flea, and It Girl Cara Delevingne were are in attendance for the video.

Outside of the video, however, the song is pretty catchy. Check it out for yourself below.

Die Antwoord’s album, Donker Mag, is out now and available on iTunes and Amazon.

A Swift Decision: T.Swift removes all her music from Spotify

Posted on November 3, 2014November 4, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

Shake it off, T.Swift fans!

In a Spotify blog post earlier today, Spotify revealed that Taylor Swift has decided to remove her ENTIRE back catalogue from the streaming service.

The decision comes as a second blow to fans after Swift, whose 1989 album was released last week, decided not to make the new album available for streaming. There are speculations that Swift may be making the decision to hold her music in an attempt to boost album sales for 1989.

Her album is projected to gain nearly 1.3 million sold copies in its first week, gaining Swift the all-time record for a female artist’s sales in an opening week.

Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran performed a duet, and it will make you feel all the feels

Posted on October 30, 2014November 3, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

Just when you thought all your fangirling was over from your One Direction phase, this happens.

At a concert in the Manchester’s Albert Hall (yes, that’s England), soulster Sam Smith made literally every young woman’s heart melt when he brought “A-Team” singer Ed Sheeran on stage for a duet of “Stay With Me.”

The song, of course, was well received. Sheeran held his ground in the duet, and both he and Smith made the already beautiful ballad even more moving.

We’re just lucky that one fan caught it all on video! To watch the amazing duet, look below. You might want to grab some tissues first, though.

T-Pain performed without Auto-Tune…and we are shocked

Posted on October 30, 2014October 31, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

During an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, rapper/singer T-Pain surprised the hell out of everyone when he sang multiple songs without the use of his beloved Auto-Tune.  If you are pessimistic like me, you expect to hear some serious off-pitch singing. However, you get the complete opposite.

T-Pain sang multiple hits to nothing more than a piano played by Toro, including “Buy U A Drank,” “Up Down,” and more, and he SLAYED it.  He’s no John Legend, but he is damn near close.

It is also important to give props to T-Pain for the way he can make a song about a girl twerking have majestic beauty to it.

Maybe after this positive feedback, we’ll see a record full of ballads from the Nappy Boy?

If you don’t believe me, check out the video for yourself below.

Amy Poehler quizzes George Martin on Game of Thrones

Posted on October 29, 2014October 30, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

Amy Poehler, “Game of Thrones” quizzes, and George R.R. Martin. A deadly combination of personalities, fiction, and humor.

Tuesday night, the best-selling author and comedienne appeared together on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” for a little fun and games. Poehler, just as hot as Daenerys Targaryen herself, tested Martin’s knowledge of his own character’s famous lines.

The results aren’t shocking. Martin remembered a good bit of the GOT character’s lines with a few mix-ups along the way.

Check out the awesomeness below.

Listen: Nicki Minaj: “Only”

Posted on October 28, 2014October 29, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj released another single off her upcoming album, The Pinkprint.  The single, titled “Only,” features the rapper’s label mates Drake and Lil’ Wayne and vocals by Chris Brown.

The cover art for the single was released via Minaj’s instagram on Sunday and the single premiered on iHeartRadio early Tuesday (Oct. 28). The single comes after devastating news that Nicki Minaj fans- which she calls Barbz- would have to wait a little longer to get a copy of the ‘Anaconda’ rapper’s new album.

#ONLY – Tuesday

Contrary to a recent announcement by Minaj on Twitter about her album being ready for release in November, a new press release states that The Pinkprint‘s date has been pushed back to Dec. 15.

Despite the delay of the album, the single is going to be another hit as it shuts down rumors that Nicki/Drake or Nicki/Wayne have ever been a thing. The lyrics also tell us that Ms. Minaj is taken.

“I never f*cked Nicki ’cause she got a man/but when that’s over then I’m first in line,” spits Drake in his verse.

Who is this mystery man? Whoever he is, he better watch out for Drake.

Hamilton Leithauser premieres new video for “5 AM”

Posted on October 28, 2014October 29, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

Former frontman of rock bands The Recoys and The Walkmen, Hamilton Leithauser released the video for the track “5AM” off his solo album, Black Hours.

The vocals of the video have been described by The Atlantic as “a singer making a compelling case for a place among the great vocalists of American music.”  And they are not far from the truth. The vocals are soft, tender, and perfect for a classy beer commercial (but really).

Wednesday, The Divine Miss M released her cover of “Waterfalls” by R&B trio TLC through The Advocate as a tease for her upcoming album of covers.

The album, titled It’s the Girls, is a collection of covers by Bette Midler of  15 tracks sung by some of the greatest female harmonizers of the music industry including the Supremes, the Chiffons, TLC, and more.

Watch: New Avengers 2 trailer

Posted on October 23, 2014October 24, 2014 by DeShonna Johnson

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!

Stop everything you are doing right now, because the official trailer for the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron has been released!

Marvel and Disney released the official trailer after a low-quality version was leaked on the web. The trailer consists to two minutes of flashing scenes on top of the voice of new villian, Ultron (voiced by James Spader). Other newbies that we spot in the trailer are Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

The original Avengers are still there- albeit all in different, mysterious locations. Captain America seems to be barricading in some sort of prison, shirtless Thor (yum) is bursting out of water, and Black Widow and the Hulk seem to have some sort of sentimental moment between each other. Not to mention the implication that Tony Stark is involved in the creation of Ultron…

Despite the random scenes and the not-so-obvious storyline, we can attest to the fact that we’ll be waiting in line with everyone else for the midnight premiere.

Avengers: Age of Ultron starts in theaters May 1, 2015. Watch the trailer below!
